Arthur Lubin

Cineasta estadounidense



Nació el 25 de julio de 1901 en Los Angeles, California (Estados Unidos).

Es actor durante los años veinte y realizador en la Universal (1934), director de comedias de Abbott y Costello, de melodramas y películas de aventuras.

Rueda Black Friday (1940) con Boris Karloff que interpreta a un científico que trasplanta el cerebro de un gangster a un profesor. Bela Lugosi tiene un pequeño papel secundario.

Más tarde dirigió la serie de La mula Francis, firmó una ambiciosa versión en colores de El fantasma de la ópera (The Phantom of the Opera, 1943) y un interesante drama policíaco localizado a finales del sigio XIX (Pasos en la niebla [Footsteps in the Fog, 1955]) y Lady Godiva que tuvo problemas con la censura (1955).

En 1962, dirigió parcialmente y firmó El ladrón de Bagdag (Il Ladro di Bagdag) rodada en Italia, antes de dedicarse a la Televisión donde rodó algunos capítulos de Bonanza.

Arthur Lubin falleció en Glendale, California, el 12 de mayo de 1995.
